This Samoan treat is a favorite in Laie. You see it dished up at ward activities, served for breakfast with a thick slice of sweet bread at the roadside cafe, and sold by cupfuls at garage sales.
1 Cup short-grain rice
4 Cups water
1 can coconut milk
1/4 Cup cocoa powder (or grated Koko Samoa if you can get it)
1/2 Cup sugar
Boil the rice in the water for 20 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, stir well, and heat through. Serve warm.
