2½ C cranberry juice
8 oz dried tart cherries (or cherry-flavored Craisins)
1 C sugar
12 oz fresh cranberries
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Bring juice to simmer in a heavy saucepan. Remove from heat. Add cherries and let stand 8 minutes. Mix in sugar and cranberries. Cook over medium-high heat until berries burst, stirring occasionally (about 9 minutes).
Allow to cool briefly, then blend slightly with pulses in the blender. Cover and refrigerate (sauce will thicken as it cools).
Yields: 8-12 servings
