Medium Heat Chili

This is a hearty, yummy recipe that Jim and Angie received from their good friends Justin and Kristyn Bradley, soon after moving to California.

1 lb ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 green or red pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can kidney beans, rinsed & drained
1 14.5-oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 8-oz can tomato sauce
1 tsp of chili powder
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ C water

Brown ground beef with onions, peppers and garlic. Drain fat. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boiling and then simmer covered for 20 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Yields: 6-8 servings
