This is a delicious dish and a special favorite for Hoffman Mikulás feast.
1-2 lb round steak or stew meat, cubed
1 C chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1½ tsp paprika
¼ tsp thyme
1 bay leaf
28 oz canned diced tomatoes
16-24 oz tomato sauce (depending on how saucy you like it)
1 C sour cream
Place cubed beef, onion, garlic, flour, and spices into crock pot. Mix to coat beef well with flour. Add all remaining ingredients except sour cream. Stir well. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours (or on high 4-5 hours, stirring occasionally). Add sour cream 30 minutes before serving, stirring thoroughly to mix smooth. Serve over hot buttered noodles.
Don’t forget to remove the bay leaf before serving!
