This easy crock pot recipe makes a large batch of delicious applesauce. Jim received the recipe from a good friend in college, Kenn North.
10 medium apples (golden delicious or granny smith)
½ C water
¾ C sugar (optional)
cinnamon to taste (optional)
Core, peel, and thinly slice apples. Combine all ingredients except cinnamon in slow cooker, cover. Cook on low 5 hours.
Turn heat to warm, then stir or mash to preferred chunkiness (they become hard to mash if you wait until they are cool). Add cinnamon to taste. Scoop into a heat-proof container and chill completely in in the fridge (overnight is great).
Yields: 8-12 servings
Time to make: 8 + hours

Notes: If the apples were good and sweet, you may not need any sugar at all, and the taste is fruitier without it! If you choose to add cinnamon, add a little at a time, tasting often, because a little goes a long way.
