André simply can’t understand why everyone refers to his favorite carmeluchies as carmelitas!
Crust
1 C flour
1 C quick oats (old fashioned works)
¾ C brown sugar
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
¾ C butter
Other
1 C chocolate chips
½ C nuts
¾ c caramel
3-5 Tbsp flour
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Melt together butter and sugar then add together remaining crust ingredients. Pat ½ the mixture in a 9×9 pan and bake for 10 minutes. On top of the crust, add chocolate chips, nuts, and caramel. Then add flour to the remaining crust dough, crumble on top, and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Yields: 6-8 servings
Time to make: about 45 minutes
